Corey Brown will try to resurrect his autumn carnival fortunes with an appeal against a riding ban.
Brown, suspended twice in 24 hours last week, will front the NSW Racing Appeals Tribunal on Friday.
The leading jockey will try to have careless riding suspensions overturned.
He was suspended for his ride on Rain Affair in the $1 million TJ Smith Stakes, taking his time out of the saddle until May 10.
Stewards also handed Brown a suspension during last Friday’s Canterbury meeting.
Brown will appeal the conviction and severity of the TJ Smith Stakes ban in a bid to keep the ride on Rain Affair if the star sprinter runs in the All Aged Stakes on April 28.
His mounts for the carnival-ending meeting also include Permit – pre-post favourite for Sydney Cup – and possibly Rangirangdoo in the Queen Elizabeth Stakes.
Brown shares the lead with Nash Rawiller in the Australian Turf Club’s prestigious Golden Whip award for the autumn carnival’s top jockey.
There is no betting he will relinquish his position as he sits out Saturday’s Doncaster Mile meeting.
Rain Affair’s trainer Joe Pride said he would wait on the outcome of Brown’s appeal before committing to an All Aged Stakes jockey.
“I can’t imagine a big field lining up so there should be a good jockey available,” Pride said.
“Nash Rawiller has won on him before and so has Christian Reith so they would be the front-runners (if Brown can’t ride).”
